The exhibition explores the difficult life of Frida Kahlo, characterized by a long illness and great passions lived fully.
The exhibition proposes fifty photographic portraits of Frida Kahlo taken by photographer Nickolas Muray and several letters of correspondence between Muray and Kahlo. The photographs, dating from 1937-1946, explore the unique perspective of Muray, who was Frida Kahlo’s friend, lover and confidante in the 1930s and 1940s. Works in the exhibition include the iconic photo “Frida Kahlo on White Bench” which depicts Frida Kahlo in New York in 1939.
The immersive experience, realised through the technique of video mapping, takes the public inside the shapes, sounds and meanings of the Mexican culture so loved by Frida.
